+Wondermilk @ Publika Solaris Dutamas

22 Oct 2014

Now this is actually a long overdue post, but hey, better late than never right. Anyway, during my semester break last August, I actually took a short getaway to Singapore (click here in case you miss it) and KL. During my stay in KL, I stayed at Solaris Dutamas, which is just right above Publika. Gosh, how I love that place. I can just come down to enjoy all the nice food and cafe whenever I want to. Ugh, I really miss staying there.

So this day before we were scheduled to go back to Penang, we went down to have our breakfast and stumbled upon a nice looking cafe by the name of +Wondermilk. Now I have always liked milk and I will go crazy for anything with the word milk in its name. (Alright, I'm being a bit too exaggerate.) The cafe looks so cute from the outside and straightaway I know where we were going to have our breakfast!

The interior is beautifully designed with pennant banners and vintage decorations. There is also a corner with some greens just beside the entrance. I really like the interior of Wondermilk, it gives a very artsy and comfy vibe which I don't mind being there all day.
While waiting for our food, I took out my camera and start snapping! They also have a corner selling vintage items designed by designers and artists. All the things are so cute and irresistible!
Wondermilk has a sister company named Cuppacakes which specializes in baking and designing cute cupcakes. There are variations of flavors to choose from. I was so indecisive in which to order. Can I just have them all? (/◕ヮ◕)/
Aren't they cute??
They also cater to special celebrations and other occasions. What's great is that you get to customize your cupcakes to your desired preference. Awww, don't you think it's so sweet and lovely to have your own customized little cupcakes?

You can check their website here to have more info.
Did I mention they sell cookies too? Not only cookies but also cakes, they are all packed in jars. It's so creative and it would be nice to give it as a gift to your friends.
All the photos taken turned out to be so nice because we picked the window seat to have adequate sunlight for the photos! Haha =)
And here comes our food!
Choc Marshmallow cupcake
Now we are not unfamiliar with cafe selling coffee, but never had I come across a cafe that specialized in selling specialty milk. For milk lovers, this is a must for you to visit this cafe!! I'm being very serious! They are not any ordinary milk but fresh milk with wonderful flavors. I ordered Macadamia because it's my fav! They have 7 different flavors to choose from - Vanilla, Toffee, Macadamia, Banana, Caramel, Irish Cream and Butterscotch. Writing this is making me craving for their milk now. ><
Chicken & cheese baked potato | RM 8.90
The amount of chicken and cheese were generous. It was well baked with a fluffy interior and crisp skin,
I forgot the name of this dish but it's penne with tuna and mushroom. I didn't know tuna and pasta can be such a perfect combination, it's rich and creamy. Dear and I love this! If you know me well, you will definitely know that I only eat pasta with white sauce. Although it's kinda fattening, but but.. I just can't help it. (≧ロ≦)

Wondermilk is one of my favourite cafe now. I would be really really glad if they have a branch in Penang. Would you consider of opening a branch in Penang? ヽ(^。^)ノ For milk lovers like me, you should really give it a try and you will not regret!

Sue's internship diary #1

19 Oct 2014

It's my last academic semester in USM. I initially thought I would be very free and leading a everyday-is-a-holiday life for this very last semester since I only have classes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Yep, don't jelly me, I have like 5 days to slack off. But I was so wrong. I totally forgot the fact that I have to find an internship for next year.

Although the official date for our internship is March 2015, which we still have around 4 months, but people around me are starting to worry that they couldn't get an offer. Of course I am worry too, but I'm more worried that I couldn't get into the company that I desired. Getting an internship it can be easy and it can be hard, it depends on what you want. If you simply want an offer for the sake of your course's requirement, then it would be easy. But if you want to learn something which is related to the field that you wish to pursue, then you might need some luck. Especially big companies, they are more stringent in terms of their interview selection.

At this stage, I realized that academic results are extremely important. You must have heard how people say university life is honeymoon, once you secured yourself in a university then you're safe. *unless you're a private college student* BULLSHIT. If you're at this stage and is eager to get a job in a reputed company, the first requirement is your CGPA. Now some of you might think the most important thing is your performance during the interview. What if you are not even shortlisted? Some companies list their requirements for example CGPA 3.5 and above. Those students who are not qualified will never have a chance to show the employer what they have in them. I am not saying that result is everything that it takes to get a good job but it is crucial for your first job. Even though some companies they don't mention their result requirement for candidates, you will have the edge over the other candidates if your result is good because normally the first thing they screen through is the results. Once you are shortlisted for the interview, show the interviewer your true colors and be confident!

I have sent in my resume to a few companies, but I have only called for interview by one company. No calls or emails from the rest. To make it worse, some of my coursemates has gotten an offer. Then you will start to think a lot, you will think 'What about don't be so picky, no matter what job scope it is, as long as I get an internship.' I think that will be my last plan. Been thinking a lot lately. All this while, I was quite clear about what I want to do in the future. To be honest, I was proud of it because  I thought I had a very clear direction than some of my friends. But only I realized that I don't like it. It's not easy to deny what you have decided for yourself since you have always thought that following that direction is correct. Anyway, life is not a bed of roses, sometimes it's not as smooth as you think and that's how we grow right? Just stay positive. God knows what's the best for you.

To those who are also in the midst of seeking an internship or a job, good luck and all the best!
To those who are still studying, enjoy your schooling days!

Have a nice day!

Singapore Getaway Day 3 : Marina Bay

3 Oct 2014

We spent our last day in Marina Bay, the most luxurious place in Singapore before heading back to Malaysia. When I think about Marina Bay, the first thing comes to my mind is the iconic design of the building and its infinity pool in the Skypark. I never had the chance to experience swimming 57 storeys above the ground. What will it be like to swim on top of the world while enjoying the magnificent view? hpmm.. I think I just gave a hint, hehehe. *someone please take note*
Our first stop was to visit Gardens by the bay (next to Marina Bay Sands), the 101-hectares horticultural garden and Singapore's premier urban outdoor recreation space. Visiting this place in the morning is not a really good idea as we had to walk under the scorching sun. You can't really get a thrill out of it. No regret though. I wish I could take a stroll here during the night time as all the lights will be dreamily lit up and the view is breathtaking. I have seen them in the photos!

Want to get a closer look of the futuristic Supertrees? You could take a stroll along the 128 metre-long aerial walkway which offers a spectacular view of the skyline.

We can't stand long at the outdoor, there's not a breath of wind and we felt like we were being put into a hot oven. In order to find ourself a shade or somewhere with air-conditioned, we quickly bought the ticket to get into the Flower Dome. There's actually two conservatories at Gardens by the Bay, namely Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. They are actually giant green houses with flowers and trees from all over the world. Since we did not have enough time to visit both and we are not really fond of flora and fauna, we chose to visit only Flower Dome.
My favourite flower among all, don't you think it's dreamy? I felt like I was in the wonderland.
Trying to take photo with the arch but there were people kept photobooming. Ewen and me looked so happy.
Tadaa! Finally we got one!
The fake candid shot.
I would rather get these flowers than roses. They are so pretty!

The lobby of Marina Bay Sands.
The shoppes - It's women's heaven!

There's a gigantic acrylic and stainless steel bowl-like structure at the entrance. It is named rain oculus which functions as a skylight and also a rain collector. When rain is collected, it will create a whirlpool motion with the water falling 2 storeys through a hole at the center of the Oculus. Ewen told that when you speak to the Oculus with normal volume, the person standing opposite can actually hear what you say. We tried and it worked! Amazing!
We came across this LV retail shop that is floating on the water!
The ArtScience Musuem is the most environmentally sensitive building in the development, the shape of the building is interpreted as a lotus-flower and the roof deftly collects water and light for the musuem's use.

That's pretty much of my trip in Singapore! I hope you guys enjoy!
